About US

The D-REC has been created by the D-REC Initiative, a not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder, industry-led initiative.

Created in 2020, the main mission of the initiative is to use the D-REC to facilitate the creation of a DRE energy attribute certificate (EAC) market. Our aim is to connect additional revenue streams to DRE markets, providing an essential boost to allow further proliferation of DRE technology in energy poor communities around the world.

The Secretariat

Our membership includes climate and impact oriented philanthropic organizations, climate investors, leading global corporations, international standards organizations, technology providers, international development organizations, environmental market agents, sustainability advisors, renewable energy industry associations and project developers in emerging markets.

The Funding Partners have appointed the Secretariat to lead the coordination of the multi-stakeholder project.

Powertrust sources, certifies and delivers distributed renewable energy projects in emerging markets on behalf of global corporations with net zero targets.
